In the world of pastries, it has been a Latin American, (specifically Cuban), favorite for generations. It's absolutely delicious and so incredibly easy to make we knew it would be perfect for you to try on a lazy Sunday morning. Enjoy!
Ingredients:
1 tbs milk
1/4 teaspoon lemon juice
1/8 cup sugar
1 egg
1 tbs water
1/4 tin goya guava paste
1.5 packages puff pastry dough
Directions:
Preheat your oven to 350°F
In a bowl, mash together the cream cheese, milk, lemon juice, and sugar.
Mix well and set aside.
In a separate bowl whisk together the egg and 1 tablespoon of water.
Slice the guava into thin strips
Keep the puff pastry cool and only unroll a sheet as you need it.
Cut each sheet into 2 smaller pieces.
In the center of each piece place 1 strip of guava paste and about 2 tablespoons of cream cheese sauce.
Fold the other half of puff pastry over the filling and press closed.
Cut 2-3 slits through the top of each pastry.
Place on lined baking sheet, brush with egg wash, and bake in oven for about 30-40 minutes, until golden brown.
Let cool completely before eating!
