When Calvin Klein first launched it's initial fragrance, CK One in 1994, the concept of a gender nuetral fragrance was almost unheard of, so much so that the general public curiosity was stoked to exponential proportions judging by it's success. The idea forced the industry, as well as consumers, to revise their notions concerning scents being developed for a specfic gender.
Fast forward to the post millenium era, which ushered a more enlightened view on gender, sex and sexuality, and a new openess to dialogue about such subjects. In it's infinite marketing wisdom , Calvin Klein has seized upon this change with it's launch of the ck2 fragrance. Vincent Brun, vice president of global marketing for Calvin Klein Fragrances and Cosmetics at Coty Inc, who happens to be the holder of the fragrance license, shared with WWD, "...gender-free fragrance for am man or a woman, without prejudices, to unite and create an experience that can be shared together in love, lust and friendship."
The scent is described as a heady combination of exotic asian inspired blends including violet leaf absolute, wasabi, mandarin and incense. Set to launch globally in the month of love, February 2016, the fragrance will be available in three sizes. Check your local retailer for pre-order information.
